Part of velentza rug (of the so-called barren [or bare] type). It is called barren velentza rug owing to the lack of thick nap like other bed covers. It is used in winter as a woolen cover for built-in sofas. Black woolen yarn has been used in the warp. The narrow sides of the plain (or, the central piece of decoration) consist of brick red strips dominated by the mug motif. Chainlike edge (skalisitou) delimits the plain on black background, on which evolve typical motifs used in Metsovo velentza rugs, such as apples, stools and little girls.
